Thank you for posting that Clara.
I have often wondered whether or not this Robert in Shelton, and these Robert sightings are one and the same person:

Oct 1850 census at Pamelia, Jefferson, NY;
HOPE: John 25 blacksmith b CAN; Jane 27 b SCT; Isbella 10/12 b NY; Also FAIRBURN: Robt 9 b CAN; Archibald 6 (or poss 4) b NY; Jas FOLLANT? blacksmith b CAN

1851: Richmond Twp, Lennox Co, Ontario
FAIRBAIRN: Robt labourer 22 Sr (sic); Robt Jr (sic) gentleman 65; Esther 22 All b SCT; Robt 11 b USA; Archd b C West 9 All Presby;
(these are neighbouring entries, conjecture as to how they relate to each other, but I believe that the 65 yr old is the Robert who was supposedly married to Kate SCOTT

and lived Napanee and environs, having emigrated from Scotland around 1828 and that the 11 yr old Robert is probably his grandson, and possibly the subject of the 1908 Shelton obit.

Whether or not the Jane who went on to marry John HOPE is the mother of Robert is conjecture, but she is the mother of Archibald as she was the informant for his death in Napanee in 1876.

Jane HOPE, is, I believe, nee FAIRBAIRN. She died at Napanee 1896, which is almost the 15 or so years ago the obit mentions.

Can anyone else shed any light on any of these people to add weight to my digging and conjecture?
