Hi Anne,

My name is Geoffrey Fairbairn and l am a descendant of Thomas Fairbairn (b 7/3/1826 Ednam, Roxburghshire). I am current in the process of researching my line of the Fairbairn family and have literally 'hit the wall' in my search.

Starting with the youngest in my paternal line, l have gone back 9 generations.

Thomas Fairbairn's parents were Andrew Fairbairn and Margaret Hunter (m 26/5/1816 Smailholm Roxburgh). Andrew's parents were (according to the Old Parish Registers) Robert Fairbairn and Elizabeth Crosbie. Andrew was born in Lauder on the 28/8/1790.

I discovered some Information on 'Scotsorigins' indicating Robert may have been born in 1758 in Lauder but l can't verify the accuracy of this date using any of the other search engines eg 'ScotlandsPeople or'

Would you have any information on Robert's birth/death and who his parents were. Any information would be most welcome. Thanks
