Boy have I got a deal for you!
Well, not really, as I cannot tell you who Robert's parents are, BUT, given you appear to be a direct male line FAIRBAIRN, if you join the DNA project, AND we get a match to Lineage 1, ie most of the Borders FAIRBAIRNs (which I would expect, but cannot be guaranteed), then we can see which of the lines you most closely "fit".
I confess I thought this family was already on the Wanted! pages for the project, but they appear to be hiding if so

I can see why Lauder might be an option, given Andrew was apparently born there, slightly shy of 9 mths after Robert & Elizabeth's marriage, but that may simply be Elizabeth's home parish.
