Boy have I got a deal for you!
Well, not really, as I cannot tell you who Robert's parents are, BUT, given you appear to be a direct male line FAIRBAIRN, if you join the DNA project, AND we get a match to Lineage 1, ie most of the Borders FAIRBAIRNs (which I would expect, but cannot be guaranteed), then we can see which of the lines you most closely "fit".
I confess I thought this family was already on the Wanted! pages for the project, but they appear to be hiding if so
I'll add to the (very long) "to do" list to get them including on both the above Wanted! pages and the Summary Patriarchs page
I can see why Lauder might be an option, given Andrew was apparently born there, slightly shy of 9 mths after Robert & Elizabeth's marriage, but that may simply be Elizabeth's home parish.
Anyway, I'll email you separately about the project.
