Yep, Walter is my 3* great grandfather, and yes he had a brother John, also a James and a David.
I suspect James is the one that married Mary Bell THOMSON 1822 and died 1846, whose son Robert mar Isabella HENDERSON, but have no proof.
I like to think that he is also the nephew James of the James CROSER Portioner of Lanton Hill that you mention but we'll probably never know or prove that.
