I have a copy of "A Record of the George Fairbairn Family," begun in 1963 and updated in July of 1983. It details seven generations, beginning with:
George Fairbairn b.7/2/1795 in Scotland; nat'lized US citizen 3/4/1863; d 3/16/1890.
George married Margaret Dinn b.1/31/1796, also in Scotland, d. 6/20/1893. Both are buried in the Oakwood Cemetery in Hamilton, Illinois.
They had two children, William Dinn Fairbairn and Margaret Fairbairn. Margaret apparently died in infancy and is supposedly buried in the same cemetery as her parents.
William is shown as being b.10/26/1835 in Edinburg, Scotland, d.April 1919. Another place indicates his term of life being 1825-1919. Don't know if 1825 or 1835 is correct.
He married Emma Sly b.12/9/1855 (to Elijah Sly and Martha Cook Sly), d.1/24/1937. William & Emma are buried in the Montgomery Cemetery in Claflin, Kansas.
Their children were: George (1878-1936); Ida (1880-1973); Fred (1882-1933); James (1884-1963)--my connection--; Mary (1886-1949; John Edward (1890-1951); and Pearl (1893-1967). All the children with the exception of Pearl are buried in KS; Pearl in Calif.
Please advise if you need any of this information.
