I am trying to find information on my ggg grandmother Lydia Ann Fairbrother. From a recently found obituary for her we know that she was supposedly born in Boone County, New York (does such a county exist? I can only find a Broome County) on December 27, 1834. She moved to Iowa with her parents in 1844. She married Alexander Frazier on October 24, 1853 in Black Hawk County, Iowa. Lydia (or Lyda) died on July 12, 1897 and was buried in Hamilton Cemetery, Decatur County, Iowa on July 13, 1897.
Family story has it that Lydia (or Lyda) was a full blood Indian, tribe unknown. This is a branch in my tree that is particularly difficult to bend. I would love to get some clues about the Indian heritage, if it exists. Old family photos of descendants certainly make us believe that it is true.
Thank you to anyone who might have more information.
