Hello Neil
Might you be the former Footballer now Commentator for the News?
The info you supplied is most interesting. I was aware of Stephen and Susanna (aka Susannah) and had to guess at their birth dates as sometime between 1830 and 1840 but knew nothing of their origins people-wise or place-wise. I hit a wall at this point and all of what you related concerning these two is news to me.
As far as Thomas and Alice are concerned, all of my material has been gleaned from copies of the 1881,1891,1901 and 1911 censuses. These clearly show there were 6 siblings and the Lancashire, Vauxhall Births Registry supports this. I have the births in order: Rhoda,Ambrose,Thomas,William Stephen,Frederick, and Alice. I cannot recall where I got the info but I have a birth date for a 7th sibling William on April 7,1913 but cannot be absolutely sure yet because the Vauxhall Registry only covers up to 1912 and would need the 1921 census to confirm it. Perhaps you can shed some light on this.
Another William does suggest that it was 4th born William Stephen that died young. The 1911 Census shows the 4 children -Rhoda is probably married, William Stephen had died, and William not yet (1913) born. That is the way it appears to me.
I would be most grateful for copies of Birth certificates and any other documents related.
I have many photos of my Grandfather and also one of your Great Grandfather Thomas in WWI uniform. Ambrose was closest to Thomas as I am told by my Mother -his niece of course.
I have a group photo of Thomas, Alice and baby Ambrose at maybe age 2 or 3.
Information about the other siblings would be most welcome also.I have nothing on them at all.
A bit about myself: I am of your Father's generation of course and born in Liverpool 1943. My Father was stationed near West Derby Village at an Anti-Aircraft Gun Site. We lived at 30 Marldon Road West Derby until 1948 when my folks emigrated to the States. I live in Northern New Jersey about 30 miles from NY City.My Mother (Ambrose had 3 girls) Marjorie is 92 and lives a few miles away from me. My Aunt Blanche is 87 and lives in Chicago. First born May passed away in Liverpool in 1977. Ambrose passed away in 1973 and is buried in West Derby Cemetery.
All the best
Dave
