John Fairley b. 1763 Scotland d. 1854 Perry Co MS
Looking for information on Daniel Ira Taylor b. 1/1/1785 Greenock, Scotland d. 10/6/1849 Wayne Co MS and John Fairley b. 1763 Kintyre, Argyllshire, Scotland d. 4/18/1854 Perry Co MS. There is a family oral history which indicates that Daniel married one of John's daughters. The different censuses in which John Fairley appears indicate that he fathered eighteen children. Unfortunately, only about eleven are known.
This John is possibly the son of John Failey b. 1717 Kintyre, Argyllshire, Scotland and Margaret Stewart. If so, he first appears in the 1785 tax records of Richmond Co NC. And, he was enumerated at his father's home in the 1790 Richmond Co NC Census. John is also found in the 1800 and 1810 Richmond Co NC censuses as "head of household." There is an 1818 Richmond Co NC land transaction where John deeded land to his brother Alexander. Perhaps, this marks John's immigration to Mississippi.
John Fairley and Daniel Taylor are found next to each other in the 1820 Jackson Co MS Census. They are relatively close in the 1830 Jackson Co MS Census. Both families migrated north just after that census was completed. John Fairley is also found in the 1830 Perry Co MS Census. And, Daniel Taylor is also found in the 1830 Greene Co MS Census.
John Fairley's wife, Katherine, died 7/31/1838 in Perry Co MS and is buried in Red Hill Church Cemetery. John and family are found in the 1840 Perry Co MS Census. John is found in the 1850 census living in the home of his son, John.
I would appreciate any records for either family, especially anything connecting the two families.
