Hello Sheila!

My name is Lois Robertson and my great grandmother is Violet Kirkwood Millar born in Largo, Fife, Scotland in 1859. She married William Bathgate and moved to Galashiels, Selkirkshire and then in 1886 the family emigrated to California where we remain to this day.
In helping a cousin take inventory of the family archives, we came upon a photo album and an album of postcards from Scotland.

The postcards were signed by M? J? Fairweather and the photo album appeared to have pictures of persons from the Fairweather family, the Janet Fairweather who married Alexander Scott, we think.

We had never seen the Fairweather surname before but Janet Millar is almost certainly related to my great grandmother. Violet Kirkwood Millar's father was James Millar, a fairly common name.
Anyway, my great grandmother wrote back to Scotland and I feel certain that she wrote to relatives.
I hope that we can see what links there may be between our families.
