Thanks again! Your information is very interesting. I didn't know that Lods oldermand meant chief pilot. Can you tell what that would have meant, such as a pilot on ocean vessels or boats on the local waterways?

I don't know the name of the first wife of Frederich/Frederick Andersen_Falch. You may have a good theory that a daughter was named for the first wife. However, Diane/Deane would have been for a deceased first wife. Deane Karine Falch/Falks was b. 9 Jan. 1785 & bpt. 18 Jan. 1785 at Moss, daughter of Friderich Falks & Karen Matthea Bergs. I can't make out the other names on the baptismal certificate, which may have been sponsors, but the names look like Eleonora Berg, Madame? Henersen Jow_ Laurentia Kienulf, Ole Berg, Niels Femb/Lemb/Semb?, & Ole Hansen.

We suspected a Swedish connection because we also have ancestors named LOBERG, which was found near the border, and Diana FALCH m. John HJORTAAS, who was baptized at Moss but by family tradition was Swedish.

I will keep an eye out for the name FALCH in the United States, but it is very rare here. Thanks again.
