Faulkinburys from Anson Co., NC & SC

My name is Lottie Lorene (Faulkinbury) Stout. My sister, Carolyn Berniece Faulkinbury Fredriksson is researching our line. Our surname has been
spelled any where from Falkenburg to Fortenberry and everything in between. Even our father's Social Security Death Index record has our name spelled
different than ours (Faulkenbury).

Our line is from Pitman Warner Faulkinbury born in Anson County NC in 1810. Married Hulda Miller (BD 6/26/1818 Lancaster, SC) in 1834 in
Lancaster, SC. Both Pitman and Hulda are buried in the Sheeks Family Cemetary (David Sheeks was Sam Bass, the notorious outlaw's uncle) near
Mitchell, IN.

Our records has Pitmas's father as a William Faulkinbury, no info. Hulda's father was a George Miller. Her mother may have been named Catherine.

Pitman's brothers were William, Henry, Jeremiah & sister Cordelia (no info on those either).

There was a Jeremiah Faulkinbury born in Anson County, NC about 1906-1908. We're thinking this could be his brother.

The 1860 Census of Calhous Co., Mississippi contains the following:
Pitman Fortenburg 54 m farmer 200 200 SC Hulda 40 f
George 19 m SC
Newton 18 m SC
Nancy 16 f SC
Martha 15 f SC
Franklin 13 m
Ala Lovel 10 m
Ala Sarah 9 f TN
Ann 6 f MS
Warrenton 1 m MS Note:
1st son, William Jasper was
married in 1857.
Also noted, there was a William Fortenburg, age 55 and a farmer living in the adjoining household. We are thinking that this could be another of Pitman's

We have the book by Adrianne Criminger, Fortenberry's of Southern Mississippi. It has references to 3 Fortenberry brothers from Mississippi that were in
the Civil War. One of which went AWOL. One of these brothers, William Jasper was our great grandfather and the other two, George Folger (who went
AWOL) and Henry Newton were our great uncles. Henry became a US Marshel in Arkansas. George went on to live in Mitchell, Indiana where Pitman
and his wife Hulda lived with him. George's son, Herchel, retired in Sun City, AZ and my sister, Carolyn, and I visited him before he died. He verified that
these 3 brothers were indeed our great-grandfather and great-uncles.

If anyone has any info on any of these folks, please let us know (Lottie's email and Carolyn's

Thanks in advance for any help you could provide.
