Hello Again Ruth,
Let me say right off that I am not a Breed descendant nor a descendant of Jefferson and Samantha.Jefferson is the brother of my GGG grandfather Joel D. Falkner.
The Dictionary of Alabama Biography may be of some help to you.In the section for Jefferson it states, "Married (1) in 1828, in Randolph County, to Sarah Ann, (2) February 8, 1838, at the same place to Samantha, both daughters of William and Frances (Brantley) Breed of that county. The Breed family was of English ancestry, seated in Lynn, Mass., as early as 1630.Breed's Hill, near Bunker Hill, took its name from this family.Members of the family removed from Massachusetts to Georgia and thence to Alabama.Children:1.William Avery Breed, married Mary Jane Ussery, of Birmingham; 2.Emily, deceased; 3.Mary Frances, married James Chatham; 4.Sarah Ann, married Frank Cotter May, of Birmingham; 5.Jefferson Manly (q.v.), married Elizabeth Cameron; 6.Samantha, married W.W. Beasley; 7.Elizabeth Ann, deceased.Last residence:Montgomery."
The Dictionary of Alabama Biography also has a section dedicated to Jefferson Manly.
[email protected] contains additional information for Jefferson, son Jefferson Manly, and son William A.B.
I have a copy of the Township 20, Tallapoosa County, Alabama census taken 28 September 1850.As of that date Frances is not listed as living with Jefferson and Samantha.
If the above helped good!If not I'll try harder next time.....Charlie
