I have a good deal of information on Fallins in Maryland, but all from the Eastern Shore -- Dorchester, Somerset, Queen Anne Counties. Most of these stem from Redmond Fallin, a landowner who died about 1722. It has been my assumption that this family is linked to the Northumberland County VA Fallins you see described by others in this Forum.

I am very interested in your Irish connection since that is the hypothetical origin of the name. Do you have any document references for your Darby? How do you connect him with Ireland? Any indication he was Catholic?

As for his status, I know that "indentured servants" (practically slaves) were common in Maryland in that period. However, it's my impression that they were much more commonly laborers than personal servants. Hope this helps and that you have more details.
