Well hello folks,
I just got confirmation by family tree dna that we definitely are from folks who were in Pittsylvania County Virginia in the 1700's.
It's been a wild ride... I had the fortune of being able to talk to folks in my family who were all born between 1885 and 1920 back when I was only 10 years old and was just curious enough to get a FEW names, dates and places and wrote it down and tucked it away and was one of my "treasures to hold on to". I was a genealogist at heart as a kid I guess.
Then because of a death record of a great grandparent and because of a mistake on the census record (writing Pennsylvania and crossing it out and writing VA next to it) I had the COUNTY! :)
And ... many things like that has happened over the years, I searched long and hard, but was also very lucky to have had old folks to talk to and hints and breadcrumbs all along the trail.
And now ... DNA ... I am floored... I mean I knew what I knew, but it sure is nice to have SCIENCE confirm paper trails, family legends and hunches :)
Well ... thanks for everything y'all, back to work :)
Sincerely Lance T. Fallin (direct descendant of Redmond Fallon of Pittsylvania County Virginia in the 1700's)
