The bible of my Great-great-grandparents, William Epps Foster and Martha A. Falwell Foster lists the following deaths without any further identifying data as to their relationship:

Sarah Jane Mann died 15th November 1854 age 38 y, 6 m
Nancy Webb Died 25 March 1871 age 74 y, 2 m

Sarah Jane Falwell Mann had to have been the younger sister of Martha A. Falwell Foster. They are the only two known children of Richard and Nancy Falwell.

Martha A. Falwell married (William) Epp(s) Foster on Dec. 21, 1837 (Campbell Co. Marriage Bonds, no parents listed, bond dated Dec. 9, 1837. Bible date is Dec 21.). As you know Philip Mann married Sarah Falwell on Dec. 29, 1838 (Campbell Co. Marriage Bonds, no parents listed).
The bible contains extensive data on the family of Martha and Epps Foster but nothing further on Sarah Mann or Nancy Webb.

According to both the bible and the Campbell Co. Death Register, Martha died March 4, 1879 (age 65 years in the bible and 64 in the Death Register). The Death Register lists her parents as Richard and Nancy Falwell and her birthplace as Campbell Co. Richard Falwell apparently died at a relatively young age and the Campbell County Marriage Bonds list the bond for Thomas Webb and Nancy Falwell dated Sept. 21, 1840. Thus the bible death entries for Sarah Mann and Nancy Webb had to have been for Martha's sister and mother. There can be no other explanation for the listing of their deaths in Martha and Epps' bible.

The Appomattox Death Register lists Sarah Mann's death date as September 15, 1854 which differs slightly from the Nov. 15th date in the bible. The cause of death is listed as "Milk Leg" and both her parents and husband are listed as Philip Mann. Obviously the records were not maintained with any degree of accuracy.

Following Sarah's death, Philip married Rebeca A. Portwood in 1855 in Appomattox (Appomattox Co. Marriages, 1854-1890 by Clyde M. Nash). As you know, in 1860 Philip and his family were in Platte Co., Missouri. Philip's second wife apparently died in the 1860s or 70s since in the 1880 Census for Delaware, Wyandotte, Kansas Philip D. Mann. 62, born in VA is listed with the following: Betsey Mann, Wife, 45, born MO, Sipey C, Mann, Dau., 12, born MO, Francis E. Mann, Dau., 8, born KS, Mollie Hagan SDau., 18, born MO, and Hannah, SDau, 16, born MO.

Would appreciate receiving any further information that you may have.
