Luis:

I have done extensive work on the family origins and to my knowledge no other person has as much information as I do. I published my genealogy in a book Titled, "The Farias Chronicles, A History and Genealogy of a Portuguese/Spanish Family." in 1995. The First half of the book is everything I know about the origins of the family. The second part is my genealogy going back to Guerrero, Coahuila, (Mission San Juan Bautistia ) about 1775. I believe most of us in North America are descended from Captain Juan de Farias who came to Mexico about 1575. What is known is that he was a Portuguese navigator and that in all probability he was a " converso." that is he was Chrtistian but from ancestors who converted from the Jewish religion.

Regards,

George Farias
