It's amazing how many Farias are there in this area.
As far as I know all the Farias in the northeast of Mexico and Texas come from a man that came from Spain/Portugal around 1580, to Mazapil Zacatecas, then he was one of the founders of Saltillo, Coahuila around that time (Saltillo is 420 years old), and his family moved to Monterrey, and was envolved in the first government families of this city.
Some moved to Guerrero, Coahuila, and some founded the city of Laredo. There are a lot of Farias in Coahuila, Nuevo Leon, Tamaulipas and Texas.
I come from the original line of Farias that stood in Saltillo. There is a big ranch granted to the family 400 years ago... there is a abandoned country property where Miguel Hidalgo gave his last mass before he was caught in Paredon, Coahuila around 1810.
