Cemetery records sometimes have the birth place and parents' names, if the survivors knew them.

The LDS mega-site has a section devoted to vital records:

They have quite a collection from Mexico. If you do get back to 1900 or earlier through other means, try them. I just gave Jose Farias a try and got 78 hits, some as far back as 1690, one as late as 1900.
