I guess there is much I really don't know. However, I have read that Farias name comes from Braga and Aveiro which is more north. But many of the sephardim in Spain migrated to Lisbon during the inquisition, and, then in the late 1497 they again were either forced out, or converted by Portuguese's King because of an impending marriage to Queen Isabells' daughter....many fled to the Azores, Madeira Islands and where else is really anyone's guess [unless they have family records] . but Lisbon was almost destroyed I think in an earthquake in 1755. So, maybe many Farias's moved to the northern tip or mid-way. I don't know, most of the info I have is hearsay from my folks who are all dead. I am contacting some people in my family to find out some information if they have any. All I know is that my father was Portuguese, his father and mother were Portuguese, etc. The last time I saw my g-mother, I was 21, I am now 49. She died many years ago...at the age of 75. So, I am with little much to go on, but I'll try. When you put in Manuel Farias, you get SO many records......it's rough.
