Hello Maria, suggest you contact the county clerk office in Hillsborgh County, FL to start with, also check the church you were baptised. Is your mother and other relatives still living that you can interview them what they know. Try to jot the info provided on a wire notebook that will serve as your own Family Tree. Can you provide your father's name and where he was from when he met with your Mom? There are alot of FARIAS and AVILA... that most roots are from South Texas, "the Valley" from Laredo to Brownsville from 1759 to the present. The Houston Public Library have a Genealogy Dept, so as Dallas, Ft Worth, Brownsville, Edingburg and San Antonio. Austin has the Texas Archives open to the public.
Let me know if I can help once you provide more info that I can get my research papers out....Jay
