I have been searching for My Christopher Marshalls....

I have been reading a book called "Extracts from the Diary of Christopher Marshall" from a series called "Eyewitness Accounts of the American Revolution". This covers relavent data of the Diary from 1774 - 1781.

The Christopher Marshall who wrote the original diary lived in Philadelphia during the period around 1774 but subequently, due to an illness, moved back to his other place in Lancaster, PA. but continued to reside back and forth. He was apparently a notable Philadelphian as he was on the Committee of Supply and had a number of very notable visitors and confidents, it seems from the diary entries.

It would appear that his family looks as follows:

Christopher Marshall b. 1709 Dublin, Ireland, d. 1797 Philadelphia
m1. ca.1736 Sarah Thompson b. 1702, Philadelphia, PA, d. 1771.
m2. ca.1772-1773 Abigail (Fooks) b.1721, d.1782 Lancaster, PA

In the book/diary he never mentions his wife by her name other than "wife" but an obituary is included at the end of the book as an appendix. It however neglects to mention her surname. A figure who figures prominently in the book is another well respected citizen of the town named Paul Fooks, and who is an obvious confident and friend. Twice he mentions Paul Fooks as "Father Fooks". He was a Quaker who had had a falling out with the "Friends" due to his stance regarding the Revolution and its politics; he was in favour, the :Friends were not it seems. I have no record of the marriage, only the clues. She would have been age 51 or so when they got together, so probably had no common children. The children he has are not hers, it would seem as he talks about his children with no reference to Abigail. She may have children in and around as there are many characters inter-acting with the family I haven't been able to tag to either spouse. His children, so far noted are:

Benjamin Marshall, who dies d. 2 Feb. 1778
m. Sally who bears a child Benjamin b. 17 Mar 1778, shortly after his father dies.
Christopher Marshall, 1742, m. Ann Eddy
Charles Marshall, b. ca.1744, m. Patience Parrish

Is this information of interest to any one on the list, and better yet, does anyone have some further information to add to it?
