Hi Tabitha,
I am also a descendent of Dr. Peter Fahrney. I have two references to his grandfather, Peter Farnie (also spellings: Forni, Fornie, Fornee, Forney, Fahrney) to Darmstadt, Germany, and Switzerland. He came from Switzerland to PA sometime between 1717 and 1729. There is also a reference in a bottle collector's site to early pharmaceutical bottles, which reference a "Forni's Alpenkrauter Blutbeleber" (mountain herb blood revitalizer) that was sold in Switzerland. Supposedly, Peter Farnie brought the formula with him to America, and he and his sons sold it through various companies, developed new products, etc. One of his descendents (also Peter Fahrney) established a large pharmaceutical comapany in Chicago in the early-mid 1800s. How does that compare with your info? Look forward to hearing from you.
Chuck
