I believe the book to which you refer is the Farney, Virkler, Zehr geneology. My parents had a two-volume set when I was growing up, and I'm hoping a new edition will be published in the near future. Some information on the book is included below:

Mrs. Ira G. Farney, Julius Farney and Mrs. Urban Karcher Genealogies of Three Large Families of Lewis County, New York: The Farney Family 1795-1988; The Rev. Rudolph Virkler Family 1792-1988; The Zehr Family 1789-1988 1989 by Julia Karcher (third update, Two Volumes) 1997 pages, Reminiscences, sketches of history, births, deaths, marriages, occupations, religious and political views, memoirs, educational advantages, addresses, etc.
