I don't believe the report that John Farney was born in Ireland in 1750 is correct. The information I have is that he was born in 1778 in Rockingham County, Virginia, and was the son of William Farney and Sarah Norton. The Farneys were a rich family in colonial Virginia.

I'm looking for proof that David Radcliffe Farney's daughter Minerva Farney was the woman who married my Great-Great Grandfather, Robert Alexander, in Carter County, Kentucky, in 1851. I presume that Minerva Fannin was an assumed name. David and his family were listed in the 1850 Carter County, Kentucky Census like Robert's family. David and Malinda Duncan were married in Jackson County, Ohio, which is where Minerva was born in 1833. After they were married, Robert and Minerva lived in Jackson County, Ohio for a brief period and two of their daughters were born there. As you see, the circumstantial evidence of Minerva Farney and Minerva Fannin being one and the same period is great. Yet on the 1870 Carter County Census they state that "Manerva" was born in Kentucky...(I figure that was probably a mistake.) Can you shine any light on the matter?
