Farrahanna changed to Farrah?

I am researching the name Raha Farrahanna, born about 1819, thought to be a mid-eastern name, and his wife Susan and a 1 year old daughter Esther. They are in the 1860 census for Vigo County, Indiana. He is listed as a medical doctor born in England in medical practice with a young doctor Elderoy Lange age 23. It's possible he shortened his name to Farrah. Any help would be great.
