Farrah family in London

If anyone's interested in the Farrah family in London, you need to get in touch with my mother via me. My parents spent 30 years researching their family trees and their files fill a small room from floor to ceiling.

My great great grandfather, whose name I can't remember (sorry!) made a sixteen year old girl, Rachel Matthews, pregnant. He subsequently married her but the first child was illegitimate, so whereas all the other children had Farrah as a surname, the first child was Henry Farrah Matthews. His first wife died young so he subsequently married his first cousin Annette Farrah and had a brood of children, including my grandfather Frank Matthews.

Mum has a wealth of family stories about the Matthews/Farrah family. The film star David Farrar (who took his mother's maiden name professionally but refined the spelling) was born Cyril Matthews and was Mum's first cousin. He was physically very like Mum's brother, my Uncle Len, and many of the family mannerisms come out in his acting.

If you're interested in more stories, get in touch.
