Some e-mail addresses were real brain twisters and I expect some are wrong. If you could let me know correct e-mail for those you have been in contact with, I would be grateful.
Dear Farris, Faries, Fearis Cousins, I willbe grateful for any response, clarification or illumination. I am Charles L. Bland, Box 1002, Amherst New York, 716-885-6897, e-mail [email protected]. I welcome your call and would be glad to call any of you if you invite me to do so.
I have spent the past 25 years researching my Bland ancestors and probably now am the center of Bland research in the US, but I know very little about my maternal line of descent. With the helpful prodding of a cousin, Sharon Farris Macdonald, Chesapeake Virginia, who has an interest in our history, I am making this preliminary foray into Faries/Farris/Fearis history.
Our family was located in Gaston County North Carolina and I believe had earlier roots in Mecklenburg County and further back in York County. Sharon and I descend from Linsey Farris (C1880-1962) and his wife Lorena ______(1882-1971). Linsey was the son of Zenas Farris who was born about 1835.
Sharon recently found the will of Alexander Fearis whose will was probated in York County S.C. August 10, 1824. She believes the above Zenas Farris was the son of one of Alexander Farris’ children. It’s worth noting I thing that my Grandfather and Sharon’s Uncle was named Lewis Alexander Farris, and he was the son of Linsey Farris. From your postings, I am sure you are familiar with its information, to wit:
Alexander was married to Jeannette _________??
His listed children were:
Jesse
Thomas
William
Samuel
Daughter Jeannette. Wife of William Wallis
Sharon believes, though I am not certain of her sources, that Alexander (D 1824) was born in Antrim County Irelandand came to America with his father James Farris, who was born about 1726, and that James came to America with a brother John who was born C1720.
I think that about sums it up. I would be very grateful for any insights you can offer, including of course, disproof, if that is what the evidence tells.
Charles L. Bland
