Dee Farris 10/06/08
You are incorrect in that my Farris line comes from the Middle East. I am participating with 12 other Farris males, in a Farris DNA surname project, administered by DNA Heritage of England. We all closely match in our Y-DNA (only transmitted from father to son, to son).
Our I1a haplogroup indicates that we came originally from the Scandinavian (northern) areas of Europe and share a common Farris ancestor about 300 years ago
Another group, R1b haplogroup indicates a European origin too. So far we have none from Middle East area.
There are certainly some Farris families that came from the Middle East. I knew some in Jacksonville Fla that came from Lebanon.
If you would like to be tested for your paternal line, please let me know and I will give you information on how to obtain a kit. Family Tree DNA also performs this service.
PS. There are many different spellings of Farris (which has been Anglicized)
