i have more info. in researching farris name origin i mentioned that i found a large # of people w/ the name farris on the italian island of sardinia. in following up on my research i decided 2check out the italian peninsula and i found that there are at least 400 farris' in italy listed under the a's alone and most of these farris' dwell in the northern districts of lombardy, liguria and piedmont. these occupy n.e. italyalpine area and ligurian seawhich ispart of mediteranean. as i stated b4 farris in latin according to castels latin dictionary means corn, meal or spelt. an intresting side note here. hannibal and the romans in thier epic struggle for control of italy burnedand destroyed southern italy so severely that it stillhas not recovered its fertility.here is another point.the genoans [liguria] and the pisans [tuscany] invaded sardinia in 1016 ad to free it from muslimcontrol and piracy. this might explainfarris in sardinia. [or it might just mean it was a very poular name] any way if there r 400 farris' listed under names begginning w/ A a lone just think how many farris' there r in italy in total. another point here . the spanish nore the muslims have ever conquered northern italy.let me statethat im not saying the farris in usa came from italy im just offering up more info for consideration. personaly i find this very fascinating. more info. u.k. farris breakdown. as i said b4 there are about 70 farris' in uk . i found none in n.. ireland, none in wales and only 2 in scotland. the rest were 2b found in england and in no particular county either.in germany i found thatmost of the farris' lived in the westphalia district. [which borders france]by the way i live in the midwest so there really r no books onour colonial ancestors i would like 2 know from whatmaterials other farris gain there info.
