In Reply to: FARVER, MANNING--Shelby Co., OH 1850 by John Stewart of 65

The family of John Lefever born 1770's in order of age as included in his 1834 Salem Twp. Shelby Co will were: (2nd wife a widow) Margret (Stout) Lefever; Christena born 1801 Frederick, MD w/o Reuben Jackson married 1825 Shelby Co. Solomon born abt 1804 MD married sally (Sarah) Stout 1829 Shelby; David b abvt 1806/7 married Eliza Mellinger and then Mary Ann Mckee in Shelby; Lydia born about 1808? (I do have her birthdate, parents and christening from a PA church ledger) married 1835 Silas Manning; George b 1809/10 (christened in PA) married Catherine Snyder in Shelby; my Daniel Lefever born 1713 christened 1813 in Huntingdon Co. PA married 1840 in Lebanon, Warren Co. OH Sarah Duvall; Catherine born 1817? in OH (middle name possibly Martz); married Hudlow; Christopher (Christy) born 1823/4 in OH married Elizabeth Hurt.
The Dr Jackson associated with Silas re distilleries may be a relative or even son of Christena Lefever & Reuben Jackson. Lefevers in Miami Co. married families in Staunton Twp. there and many of thes families moved to Shelby (Deweese, Mann, Dye, Butt), included
Many other lefevers & their consorts mave to the same Salem Twp. as my Lefevers in the 1830's (tthey were cousins of my Daniel) and came from Warren Co.
There was a Peter Lefever (others later) early in Warren and not much known about him (a divorce) and there are two marriages to Kelly surname that could be his children - ther are Kelly later in Shelby.
One puzzle: when Lydfia's father died it was probated in 1840. Her father in his will urged no dispute among his family, but there was. David Lefever vs Solomon et al.
Took a few years and shares went to surviving heirs, including Jackson grandkids (parent dead),
What I can't figure is how come a Jacob Hattzerman recieved a full share (1/7th) of estate. I could only find one close name to that and it was a similar spelling in 1850 0r 60 in MIami Co. and he was a liquor merchant. So I wonder re Silas business ventures, Cold be that when Joh died widow Margret married again to him. ??
But John and Wife Margaret Stout sold his PA land in 1834 to a Jacob Heffelman so that could be why? Anyway John your people and mine were relatives and close.
The 1850 census in Miami shows as the next door neighbor of Silas Manning and Lydia as JOHN STEWART. age 35 gunsmith, in house Charles Stewart age 32 & George Jackson age 16; Rebecca Dewewese age 16 (Rebecca used among my direct consorts) Joseph Stephens age 45 laborer and 3 fellows from Ireland.
