Hi, I have been looking everywhere for information on the Fast family. My husband was born a Fast. George Walter Fast Jr. His name was changed to Garth Wally Stuart when he was adopted. At age 5 (1969) he, his mother Mabel, and younger sister were hit by a vechial while walking along the road in Jefferson Oregon. His mother died as a result of injurys. He and his sister were placed in foster care and he was adopted at age 8. He has no other memory of his family.
We were recently given information about the family. Father, George W Fast age 45, at the time, worked as farm labor. Mother Mabel age 38. 7 older sisters, 1 younger sister. Total of 9 children, he was the only boy, the next to youngest child. The address was general delivery Jefferson Oregon. We know that he was born in the near by city of Albany Oregon.
You mentioned a picture that looked like your father in your posting. I would like to see that picture. To me it is easy to see the German influence in my husband. His body type, eye shape and color, hair and skin tone. He looks German like the men in my own family. German imigrants via the Dutch countrys. You also mentioned the origins of Flanders. My family's origins are also Flanders. Did I marry the boy next door? We can not help but wounder if there is some kind of connection.
If any of my orphaned husbands story sounds familure in any way to anyone, Please let us hear from you.
Thank You,
Diana Stuart
