There is a Mathias Fauerbach in Monroe County, IL, in the 1850 Census who was born ca 1796. One of my kinswomen married a Fauerbach and moved to Kansas. From that fact I would suggest that your Mathias Fauerbach was probably Catholic since my kinswoman was Catholic. Belleville Diocese Catholic records are now on line. Might find his death with name of his parents--outside chance, but worth looking.
