My father is Leonard faughn born in 1936 at Fort Snelling, Saint Paul MN.
My father said once that his grandparents were of Irish decent and dropped the "a" in Faughan to sound more American and make it easier to find work. His Father was William Faughn and Married Harriet Armstrong around 1914. I don't know much more about this family. They moved quite a bit and this makes it hard to pin down accurate information. Let me know if this helps any.
