My gggrandmother was Matilda Favors, b.1817
in Jessamine Co., KY.; d.1854-56 in Dade Co.
MO. Census records seem to indicate her father as Silas Favors and grandfather John Favors.
On Dec.12, 1835, Matilda married William Sears, in Logan Co. KY. William is the son of David Sears and Catharine Coffman.
William and Matilda soon left Logan Co. to live in Hopkins Co., KY, near other Favor relatives. They were active in the Baptist Church.
Their children were:
Martha Susan b.1839
Henry b.1840 (my ggrandfather)
Ann M. b.1841
William Franklin b.1843
Joseph b.1844
Charles b.1846
James b.1848
Melvina b.1851
John R. b.1852
All were born in Hopkins Co. KY.

In 1854, William and family moved to Dade Co. MO. Several of Willaims cousins lived in that area of Missouri, as well as the family of his Aunt Madeline Sears Acock.
"The History of Dade Co." lists Jacob Sears and William Sears as first land entries in 1854.
Matilda died shortly after the family moved to Dade Co., MO.
I would like to hear from anyone who is related to the Favors of Hopkins Co. KY.;
know about Silas Favors, and my Matilda Favors
Sears. I would also like to know if there are any Favor family cemeteries located in Hopkins Co., KY or MO?
I do not know where Matilda is buried and would like to find out.
Where ever she is buried, her grave is suppose to be by a road. She would, also, have a proper headstone.
Thank you, Ruth
