Hi I am Hugh Fawcett and my ancestors are My GG Grandparents Courtney Fawcett born 1835-1838 in Millquarter, Antrim County and married Jane Conaway in March 8, 1858 in Parish Dunneane in Antrim County and Jane was born I was told in 1833 and Courtney died in 1905 and Jane it was before 1900 sometime, but don't have an exact date yet and they had three sons that I am aware of William John Fawcett born January 26,1862 and James C. and Thomas was all the sons were born in Millquarter and was married to either Agnes or Sarah and My Great Grandparents were William John Fawcett born January 26, 1862 married Elizabeth Small born in 1862 from Ballymena, Antrim County,Ulster and William John and Elizabeth had four children in Taylorstown/Toome/Toomebridge in Antrim County and William was born in 1888 and Courtney born abt 1892-1893 and My Grandpap Hugh Small Fawcett born in 1894 and a Jane a sister known as Jennie born in 1896 and they immigrated to Ellis Island, NY NY and went South to the NorthSide of Pittsburgh,PA,USA and arrived 1902-1904 and had another son Albert Courtney in 1907 and another son Morrison birthdate or death date unknown he got killed in a sledd ridding accident on North Federal Street on the NorthSide of Pittsburgh,PA all the Fawcetts attended the 2nd-5th United Presbyterian Church at 1700 Brition Avenue off of Perrysville Avenue but the Church is no longer in existence it is now a shelter for the poor and the homeless and the Rev at the time was Rev Nevin and the Fawcetts now one thing that puzzles me is there is a big clan of Fawcetts on the SouthSide of Pittsburgh and they came from Ravenstonedale and Yorkshire England but the Fawcetts on the NorthSide were from Antrim County,Ulster, Northern Ireland and I can't figure out how they connect and there is another clan of Fawcetts in McKeesport that supposedly I am suppose to be related to but I can't seem to find the connection for them either. But heres some Fawcett History that might help you in the Early Years the Fawcetts came from Norway and France and they were Protestant Hugenouts and Catholics filled France so the Fawcett Families had to Flee because of them being Protestant Hugenouts and I was told by a relative that the Fawcetts Fled from France to Wales, Scotland,Northern Ireland and Ireland and Ravenstonedale and Yorkshire, England and see around the mid 1600's the Fawcetts in Millquarter, Antrim County and see James Hamilton and the Earl of Antrim brought Gabriel Clark and his wife to Millquarter to build water moving corn mills and they opened a Quaker Cemetery in Millquarter,Antrim County in 1696 with Gabriel Clark and his wife being the first couple to be buried in the only and thee oldest Quaker Cemetery in Millquarter which was also known as Milltown in Antrim County and the Cemetery was called the Millquarter Burial Ground and they still have interments till this very day and the Millquarter Burial Ground was also later on known as The Green Garden and supposedly my relative told me the Fawcetts may have followed the Clarkes(Clarks) over to America but I have no proof but the info that my relative from Antrim County has told me. I am trying to trace the Fawcett Family as far back as possible and I am looking for old Fawcett pictures and allied families that tie into the Fawcetts and I would love to know is there a connection between the SouthSide and NorthSide of Pittsburgh Fawcetts and McKeesport,PA Fawcetts and what is it?? When the Fawcetts came to America I was told they were Quakers and stayed at the Chester Couty,PA Friends of Society Meeting Room. Another question I have is My Fawcetts connected to the Fawcetts from Antrim County Thomas Fawcett and Lydia Boyes that went to Pennsylvania and than down to Fredrick Co VA down at Fawcetts Gap and than up to East Liverpool,Ohio which was called Fawcettstown orignal and than they were in Columbiana, Ohio and Salem,Ohio and Lisburn,Ohio and Pittsburgh,PA and there was a bunch down in Washington County,PA and than a Fawcett that supposedly Shot General Braddock from a tree but have no proof yet but I am trying my best. The Fawcetts are in Pittsburgh,McKeesport,North Huntingdon Township, Irwin, North Irwin, Westmoreland City , PA and Braddock Pa and Homestead,PA which is all around the Pittsburgh,PA area. Good Luck on Your Search, Any Questions give me a hollar. My email address is [email protected] Hughie Fawcett
