John Edward Fazenbaker was son of Francis Thomas Fazenbaker (called variously "Frank" or "Thomas" 1849-1912) and Mary Isabelle Spiker (1856-1949).

In the 1900 census, John's occupation was coal miner. His death certificate listed the cause of death as "Miner asthma," which would presumably now be called black lung.
