This is intended for the "for what it is worth" category. I do not have very much proof but I have that Edward Ferneyhough, Sr was born 19 August 1760 in Checkley, Stafford, England to Thomas Ferneyhough and Dorothy----. Edward married Susannah Gilbert who was the daughter of Thomas Gilbert by his first wife....They were married 11 February 1788 probably in Albemarle County, VA ( if my memory is correct ). This is the same Thomas Gilbert who married secondly Anne Ferneyhough who is listed as a brother to Edward in my notes. It is interesting that Thomas Gilbert wrote a blistering will in which he disinherits all of his grandchildren from the marriage of Edward and his daughter Susannah. Don't know what the problem was but he made no bones about the fact that they were to have NO part of his estate.

I have no record of when Edward's family immigrated to Virginia but I assume that it was prior to the Revolutionary War. There are still a few Ferneyhough in the Central Virginia area---mostly Albemarle County.
