Thank you, Gordie, for the census reference. I could not find Wm. because the on-line census I have access to has that entry indexed as Wm. Tear. That William Fear (or Fears--the entry is so faint it could read either way) is 26-45, way younger than the William Fearies in Fairfield in 1800. So we are no closer to finding relationships. There is also a person named Isom Fear in Fairfield in 1810, and the surname has a curl a the end which could be either an e or an s. Somebody please come up with something to connect these people.
