Fears- Ferriers- Family names-
Posted by: Lucy Grisham (ID *****9709) Date: June 28, 2010 at 03:00:21

I am searching the origin of the Fears name and am wondering if the name was actually Ferriers- as many of the Ferriers are listed in Scotland, but I believe they were originally of France-
The Ferriers are in the ancestry of Jesse James- thru Robert Woodson who married Elizabeth Ferrier in Curles Neck, Virginia.
Since many people fled their homelands and went to other countries to avoid persecution, is it possible that the Jane Fears who married Rev. Hugh McWhorter as probably a second wife, was actually a Ferriers?

Rev. McWhorter was my ancestor- and his first wife was said to have been Jean Gillispe Thompson? and he had eleven children whose ages are spread pretty far apart- which indicates he may have married more than once, unless the birthdates are just in error-

I would like input on this as I am searhing for the wife of Elbert McWhorter- who was one of the sons-
Thanks, Lucy Grisham
