Hi Gordie,

Thanks for taking the time to answer my query. No, I do not have James documented before 1749, hence the post. I am finally getting around to trying to document the generally accepted information available on the internet regarding this family. Information is passed along indiscriminently from one online tree to the next and soon mistakes become gospel. Frankly, I'm not even sure that I'm descended from him. Other than having the same surname, its just a working hypothesis. Going backward, my certainty ends with William and Polly (Douglas) Fears, married in Grainger, TN. I have had a Y-DNA test done, so perhaps that will eventually establish some connection. Do you descend from this James Fears?

Thanks again,

Jeff
