Jeff,

As to the parentage of James Fears from Prince Edward, there are records in Charles City County around 1741 that indicate a James Fear died with a wife named Elizabeth. There is another record several decades later (3) that show Elizabeth Fears as a daughter to Joab Mountcastle. No one has ever looked to see what happened to the land of Joab Mountcastle. The land is to be left to his wife Ann and then the sale of land divided among 10 children. Someone will need to look into those records to determine how Elizabeth Fears relates to the Fears family.

I am not related to James Fears but to John Fears who is a little younger than James. I have no idea how these two relate.

I suggest looking into Grainger County, TN land records around early 1800s. You might be able to establish a potential father for William there.

Good Luck.

Gordie
