I have a John Featherly Jr., who is the son of John Featherly & Mary Claus in Wayne County, New York as going to Michigan. (See additional information below)
The information I have of the first Featherly's arriving in Wayne County, New York dates to 1789, when Nicholas Stansell, his brother-in-law, John Featherly, and his father, William Stansell, along with their families (and with the help of the Indian-trader, Hendrick Wemple) traversed the Mohawk River up the Clyde River, becoming the first white men to settle in Wayne County, New York. Their party consised of 12 family members.
Nicholas Stansell's wife, Margaret Featherly, was the sister of John Featherly. In 1778 Margaret Featherly married Nicholas Stansell. Eleven years later, in 1789, they settled in Wayne County, New York. Nicholas died on December 11, 1819 in Wayne County, New York. I do not know the date of the death of his wife, Margaret Featherly Stansell.
Children of Nicholas Stansell and Margaret Featherly are:
Betsey Stansell, b. Sep 12, 1779, (Sept 2,1779); married Mr. Baker (or Baber) & Benjamin Gonzalley).
John Stansell, b. Mar 29, 1781; died 1814, while serving in the Army in the War of 1812.
William Stansell, b. Oct 19, 1782, New York State; William married Susanna Otta, who died on August 22, 1838. His 2nd wife was named Elizabeth (last name unknown). William served in the Revolutionary War. He died on October 22, 1857, Lockville, NY
Nicholas J. Stansell, b. Sep 26, 1784; Nicholas J. was killed in an accident while skidding logs in Wolcott Township, Wayne County on June 8, 1844.
Henry Stansell, b. May 15, 1786. Henry married Mary A. White. He settled in Michigan along with his brother, Issac.
Isaac Stansell, b. Nov 21, 1787. Settled in Michigan with brother Henry
Mary Stansell, b. Sep 9, 1789; married Mr. Adams
Samuel Stansell, b. Dec 28, 1795; Samuel married Sally (last name unknown) Samuel was killed while moving his brother, Nicholas J., to Wolcott Township, New York. The load of goods overturned, and Samuel died at the early age of 32, in 1828.
George Stansell, b. Feb 13, 1800, Lyons, Wayne Co, NY; George married Electa Aldrich. He died February 10, 1883, at his daughter (Crandals) house.
Margaret Stansell, b. Jun 6, 1803; married Mr. Kale.

From the book, "Rose Neighborhood Sketches," published in 1893, which I obtained from the Wayne County Historical society, one finds the following information about the Featherly family and their descendants.
John Featherly, probable that he was of Herkimer or Montogomery County, New York derivation, married Mary Claus, the same name that has also been Anglicized as Closs. They lived in Lyons, NY and Phelps. John is buried in the cemetery in York's corners.

Frederick Featherly who married and died at Three Rivers Point in Oswego County
George Featherly who marrried Susan Kinkaid
John Featherly Jr. who went to Michigan
Joseph Featherly killed when young, by a sleigh tongue
Betsey Featherly who moved to Cattaraugus County
Catherine Featherly who married William Baker

I don't know the relationship to John Featherly Sr. to the following two entries that I found in the book of "Rose Neighborhood Sketches" (those of Betsy Featherly and Lydia Jane Featherly:
Betsy Featherly married Abram Doremus, who was born in Mentz, Cayugo Co. Abram was a farmer in the western part of town before he moved to North Rose. They had 6 children.
(Twins) Hellen and Ellen Doremus who married (Twins) Lyman and Lumas Briggs. (Lyman and Lumas were the twin sons of Jonathan Bringgs )
George Doremus who moved to Jackson, Michigan
Lydia Doremus who married William B. Hill of North Rose, NY
Adeline Doremus who married Douglas Colborn
Jeanette Doremus who married Darwin Gillet

Lydia Jane Featherly married Horace Morey and had two sons.
John Morey who married Rachel Smalley & lived in North Rose, NY
Warren Morey who married Carrie Desmond and also lived in North Rose, NY
