I am looking for James and Ellen FEEHAN from Ireland to Powerville, Morris County, New Jersey.
From the 1880 Census, Powerville, Morris County, New Jersey, FEEHAN Household:
FEEHAN, James, Age: 64, Occupation: Farmer, Born: Ireland, Parents born: Ireland.
FEEHAN, Ellen, Age: 54, Wife, Keeping House, Born: Ireland, Parents Born: Ireland
FEEHAN, Mary Ann, Age 20, Daughter, At Home, Born: New Jersey
COONEY, James, Age 16, Nephew, Farm Laborer, Born: New Jersey, Parents Born: Irland
COONEY, Patrick, Age 13, Nephew, Farm Laborer, Born:" New Jersey, Parents Born: Ireland
Now I believe the COONEY boys are of the family of James and Margaret COONEY listed in the 1870 Newark New Jersey census, along with other family members.
On the death certificate of James William COONEY, born in "Boonton" New Jersey 20th September 1866, his mother is listed as Ellen FEIN, I think that I might just have the family of these two boys in the Newark, NJ census fo 1870 and that this is the "surogate" family.
The informant on the death certificate is my grandmother, Margaret Agnes COONEY MURRAY, James' daughter. I believe that Margaret COONEY and Ellen FEEHAN/FEIN are probably sisters. And the FEIN spelling is as close as anyone could remember. And I know how families and children shifted around in those early days.
Would like to connect with the FEEHAN family of this era, COONEY as well. But the FEEHANs would be great.
My great Irish mysteries. This is not the only Irish family I am putting together in bits and peices, ahhhhhh!
