The only information I have:
From my grandfather's death cert-Mother Ellen FEIN
From the 1880 Morris County NJ census:
James FEEHAN, Head, Farmer, 64 Years, Ireland
Ellen FEEHAN, Wife, Keeping House, 54 Years, Ireland
Mary Ann FEEHAN, Daughter, At Home, 20 Years, New Jersey
James W. COONEY, Nephew, Farm Laborer, 16 Years, New Jersey
Patrick COONEY, Nephew, Farm Laborer, 13 Years, New Jersey
Ellen is, for obvious reasons, not James' mother but is his aunt. I think that James' parents are living in Newark at this time. I have the census for 1870 showing James and Patrick in the household of James COONEY and Margaret COONEY. The ages for the brothers, James and Patrick match from one census to the other.
I suspect that Ellen is either a COONEY or Margaret could be a FEEHAN. I am a little lost for the next stop on my quest. Without any further information on this FEEHAN family. I have been to the cemeteries in Boonton and one in Boonton Township, no luck.
Having grown up in Boonton, New Jersey and having read much of the history, I know that Powerville could be anything that was not in Boonton proper, it probably included parts of Montville as well. Also that the resevoir was not flooded until the later part of the 1800s Powerville could be or parts could be what we now consider to be Boonton proper.
Our Lady of Mt. Carmel church in Boonton has no information on any of the folks above mentioned.
Would appreciate any assistance.
