I am looking for some information on the Feehan's & Fitzpatrick's of Manayunk/Philadelphia. My great-great grandfather, John Feehan, was born in Phildelphia around 1846 to Mary Fitzpatrick and Henry Feehan (I believe his first name to be Henry, but this could be wrong). He also had a brother Patrick, born approx 1850 in Philadelphia.
Henry Feehan died either while his wife Mary was pregnant with Patrick, or shortly after his birth (1849-1850) and I believe Mary died shortly after. I have not located either of their death certificates through the city of Philadelphia or through familysearch.org. After their parent's deaths, John and Patrick went to live with Mary's parents, Michael and Ann Fitzpatrick (both born in Ireland)-- who also lived in Manayunk/Philadelphia. Michael and Ann's children were Patrick, Mary, Michael and John. Patrick was born in Ireland around 1824 and the others were born in Leeds England in the late 1820's/early 1830's. I have tried searching for passenger/immgration records for all of these ancestors and have been unable locate them.
John fought for the North in the Civil War and was taken prisoner at Andersonville. I have John's entire military file, but it does not mention a date/place of birth or parent's names. In 1870, he married Mary Pearce (no marriage record required at the time) in York, PA and had several children: Mary, Francis, John, Alexander and Bernard (who also went by the name Benjamin). John Feehan became a boat captain and died in 1893 when his ship sunk off the coast of the state of Delaware. He spent his life as a resident of Pennsylvania, living in Philadelphia (where I believe he was born) and the town of York, Pennsylvania.
I am desperately trying to find out where in Ireland John's father came from. As I mentioned, I believe his name was Henry, but I am not positive.
Thanks in advance for any help!
