It appears that the 'Feeler" name that emerged from Virginia and became fixed in Indiana probably developed from the family name 'Viele or Vealey'.

The Bedford Co., VA Marriage Bonds Records include:
Sept. 14, 1807 Michael Vieley & Lucy Brown, Ebenezar Brown, Surety
Mar. 27, 1813 Joshua Bradley & Harriett Vealey, Isaac Vealey, Surety (Isaac and Harriett were siblings of Michael)

The Viele family migrated from Dutchess and Ulster Counties, New York. The family listing appears as:
Simon Viele b1756 Poughkeepsie, NY
wife, Neeltje Nellie Parmentier b1756 married Jun 1775
Arrantje Viele b1776
Cornelius " b1777
Harriett " b1779
Michael " b1782
Rachael " b1784
Isaac Hegemon "b1785
Johannes John "b1789
Peter " b1795
Virginia E." b1796

The 1810 Bedford Co, VA Census lists the households of both Michael Vealey and Isiac Vealy.

Peter Vealey is recorded in Bedford Co. VA 1820 Census, Botetourt Co., VA 1830 Census and Fayette Co., VA 1840 Census.

The Viele and Parmentier families appears to have descended from Holland and Belgium.
