Greetings H.C., Linda and Feemsters All,
It's been a while but I,m back! I hope all is well. Spent the last few years finishing up an Army career. Been kinda busy.
I've been going over my stuff and trying to figure out where I left off. Seems there are a number of folks who have requested info from me and unforetunaly my sister in SC has all of my paperwork for safekeeping. She is going to make copies for her and send my originals back. Until then I am working on the family in Scotland back to mainland Europe. Not having much luck though.
Has anyone determined where John Feemster was living when he left the UK and came to the colonies?
Does anyone have a passenger list from the Symond with John/Mary on it?
Has anyone determined our Tartan? Moray? Iverness?
Also, I noticed a post by Tim Neely I think that stated the Feemsters came to Scotland with the Normans. That would put them in Scotland alot earlier than I thought. It was my understanding that they came from Germany during the Reformation. The Reformation took place between 1517 and 1648. The Norman invasion began in 1066.
And last, I noticed a posting by someone in TX that said he was going to SC in Aug 09 to visit the remaining Stay at Home folks.
Just to let everyone out there know, the SC Feemster family reunion is held on July 4th at Bethesda Presbyterian Church just outside of York.
I haven't attended but once since I went into the Army in 1985. It used to be a big gathering but I think attendance has dwindled as folks have passed away.
If anyone out there is interested in attending, let me know and I can make some calls to see if it is still going.
