Feemster, Matilda: Guntersville, Mar. 16. Died at age 128!!! "Aunt Matilda," Negress, died at Warrenton. Mother of 38 children, having been married 5 times. Been res over 100 years. Her grandchildren both dead and living, number 169. Of great grandchildren there are about 200. Was res bef AL was formed into State. Was slave of one of 1st pioneer fams to migrate to area. At the time (1787) she was 12 years old, 116 years ago. Marshall Co. didn't exist, only wilderness, red man reigned supreme in valley of TN. She remembered Gen. Andrew Jackson and his campaign against the Creek Indians, many bloody battles of area. She had an excellent memory, ( This is taken from a very long article, Fri. 20 Mar. 1903)
