The Feeney family from Roosky, County Roscommon

  of 863

Patrick Feeney and his wife Bridget Lannon were married in Roosky around 1850. In 1864 they went to Edinburgh, Scotland with their eight children. Patrick died there in 1868 and his widow Bridget and the children eventually settled in Duns, Berwickshire.

In 1879, the eldest son Peter married Ann Susan McGuire and they had a little daughter Mary Agnes born in 1881. Between the 1881 and 1891 cenus Peter and Ann went to America. It is thought to California. A family story says there was some sort of accident and they were never heard of again. One theory was they died in the earthquake in SanFrancisco in 1906. However I have not been able to find a record of their deaths. Another family story mentions a railway accident in which the family died.

Has anybody come across this couple during their research?

Best wishes
