Thank you for posting your work on early Phelan's of NE Mexico.

Question: Do you have any additional information on Nicolas Phelan?

While searching Jose Chrisostomo Saturnino Phelan Canales' (born 07 APR 1782) LDS entry, I noticed that father is listed as "Nicolas Phelan Y Alvvardo." I am hoping to find information on Nicolas' parents or his country of origin. According to his marraige certificate he is listed as Espanol and the resident of the mining district of San Sabinas, Hidalgo. I think it would be a mistake to assume that he was born in Spain (though he might have been) as the Spanish caste system identified peoples as "espanoles" even if they were born in the new world, as long as both their parents were espanoles.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
